I used to work at the Clifton Theatre as a teenager in the mid 50's. Great times there. Are there any other photos of the theatre out there from the 50's? I've been looking for a good clear shot of it for the last 10 yrs. Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Harry (Sonny) DeGeorge
I grew up in Clifton Heights and lived on Washington Ave. My uncle, Bill Jordan, was the projectionist at one time and my brother and sisters all worked there too. My Mom Cleaned the movies in the fifties and I remember stopping In to see her on my way home from school at St. Charles When we would have a half day. It was so neat to be inside the large empty theater and be able to buy a soda In the machine with no one else around! My Mom would Drag me To the movies to see all her favorite films including "House of Wax" in 3D and I remember being under the seat for most of the movie. I also remember when the movies closed and they had live monsters come Offstage and run down the aisles!! What wonderful times I spent there with family and friends and wish my own children could have such a great experience. Anne Donahue Quinn
I remember one Friday night in the late 50s when someone came through the front doors of the theater in his motorcyle and drove down the aisle and out the side door onto South Penn street. While scared to death we thought it was the coolest thing we ever saw. The smell of the exhaust will never leave my memory.
